The Future of Organized Play Explorers Society, Part IV: Establishing Order No Matter The Price


Cheliax The proud empire once stretched by two continents, but fell to an evil government after 30 years of war following the death of Aroden. The Chelaxianos believe their nation is superior to the rest of the Inland Sea region, and will not allow something as simple as the death of its patron god prophesied them from reaching their age of glory. The ruling House Thrun and his allies rose to power amid the chaos, and established the order with the help of the armies of Hell, decade after the power remain with the same regimented organization of infernal minions. Although already controls Cheliax Aroden Arch, and therefore the western entrance to the Inland Sea, Queen's strategists know Abrogail II Absalom control is vital if Cheliax expected to establish order throughout the region. They believe that victory is within reach, and will arrive on the backs of the weak .


Two weeks ago we began a series of factions, with a look at Andor, which is by far the most popular faction. Although the geographic neighbor Andoran (and alphabetically in the list of the ten factions), Chelix could not be more different from its rivals freedom fighters. Not only the legal trend malignant organization directly contradict the spirit of freedom chaotic good, but the faction has also been the least popular in terms of active members in the three seasons of Organized Play Explorers Society.


Although it does not take a genius to figure out why. These are the "bad guys" in the campaign of the League of Explorers. Are those that send players on missions to extend the influence and armies of Hell Hell's House Thrun. If there is anything we can learn from the trend in membership between the factions and Chelix Andoran, is that players want heroes!.


What about Cheliax in the future. " So far, nothing, although the decline of the leadership faction leader, the Paracondeda Zarta Dralneen, has caught the attention of his superiors. For it was a shame to be punished personally by the fact that it represents the "faction of the bad guys." I know I personally would have hated to see it replaced, and he loves reading his letters full of hints faction. I just hope that the Queen Abrogail and their lackeys have fun with your tone as evocative and unbridled hedonism as are most players Cheliax faction.


Fortunately, next season we will not measure the success of a faction of the membership pro who possesses, but by the speed by which the active members succeed in the missions of faction. And while there are many things derogatory champions Cheliax you can say about that are not delivered on its mission is not one of them. We have already mentioned that there will be another faction of 'good guys' next year. What would happen to the resolution of Cheliax if we were to add another "bad guy" to keep things balanced?. Will sufficient recientementes added prestige rewards for all classes of the faction PCs Cheliax advance in the ranks of the Hell Knights to keep the existing small number of worshipers leaving the ship?. Only time (and maybe some prayers to Asmodeus) will tell.
